Hazel

Hazel, is painted as homage to lesser talked about African American musicians. The way he makes his guitar sing, accompanied by his unique fashion sense, I quickly became a fan of his. After listening to his music for the first time, my brain flooded me with imagery and ideas, so much so, that I had to paint him as a tribute, but also as a thank you. Eddie Hazel, inspired me to create something that felt as true to myself and my creativity as he is to his music and style. To add to that, while painting this tribute, I became more confortable in my creative methodology and more confident in my work as an artist. That has been very freeing for me, as I am very critical of my work and my process. I am very grateful.
